The main reasons are due to my lived experience as someone who has dedicated their lives to living and transforming through trauma at various stages from early childhood to the present as well as dedicating my life to the healing and empowerment of others.
Having lost both of my parents, overcoming depression, alcoholism, living with cPTSD and more recently PTSD whilst also working with some of the most traumatized people across society globally shows my devotion.
I have worked with thousands of young people and adults across England, Europe and the world whilst facilitating transformation work.
Alongside my professional work I have always simultaneously volunteered my time freely as a community organiser, activist and changemaker to support holistic health and social justice projects for transformation.
I continue to study in my own time tirelessly, passionately learning about cutting edge perspectives, practises and frameworks relevant to regenerative holistic change and how we can heal, transform and thrive beyond crises together.
I have just launched Thrivemind, Body & Whole which is on a mission to help people and projects across the world be the change we need so that humanity can thrive beyond crises.
We’re living in a time of mass collective-trauma, a time of various overlapping crises that are not only impacting upon everyone across the globe but threatening our very survival as a species on this planet. To survive, adapt, heal & thrive we need to transition society from being degenerative towards being regenerative. We need to understand how we’ve been separated from ourselves, each other and the ecosystems we all depend upon as well as the importance of reconnection for our recovery.
Many experts talk about the V.U.C.A reality we’re living in, which stands for Volatile Uncertain Complex and Ambiguous which can help us understand the nature of the world we’re now living in and the root causes of the collective-trauma we face plus the regenerative solutions required. Not only are we globally confronted by a long list of various key crises (Ecological collapse, chronic health, mass inequality & exploitation, discrimination, poverty, cost of living, Covid-19, etc) but the world is changing faster than ever before.
For 99% of human history we’ve lived in relative harmony with each other and the natural world we depend upon, yet in the last 1% of our time on this planet we’ve experienced a mass dislocation that removed us from our natural habitat, divided us from our tribes and separated us from the natural traditions and ways of living that were informed by the wisdom of nature and aligned with our evolutionary purpose and our holistic health needs.
Due to the degenerative extractive systems that currently plunder the planet for profit we are witnessing the loss of millions of species, the depletion of soil we need to grow food, a rapid decline in flying insects that we need to pollinate plants, 75% of rainforests have gone which we depend upon for oxygen, toxic waste and plastic is poisoning the rivers and oceans, and the very degenerative systems & structures responsible are also making us more depressed, stressed, lonely and anxious than we’ve ever been as a species. Put simply this society doesn’t meet our needs. Profit, power & possessions are valued more than people, planet and purpose and we’re collectively traumatized as a result.
However, there is hope. There is an increasing need, want, demand and desire for change across the whole of society. An epidemic of chronic stress is impacting upon bosses and employees alike with the ever-changing VUCA reality proving difficult for more typical hierarchical, command and control organisations to adapt to. People across civil society, especially younger generations are demanding a future beyond the ecological collapse and 6th mass extinction event they are protesting. There is more awareness of the need for us to transform ourselves, our lives and the world as a whole to become more regenerative generally.
There has been an explosion of interest in the fields of regenerative leadership, regenerative business, regenerative culture, regenerative design, regenerative consciousness and a global paradigm shift taking place which some experts refer to as the regenerative turn. Never before has our species had the awareness that it currently has about the problems it faces as well as the solutions required to solve them. We are the one and only generation to become aware of our looming extinction as well as the fact that we are the final generation able to prevent it.
To heal from our mass collective trauma, survive the various overlapping crises we face and thrive towards a brighter future where we prioritise life, people and the fulfilment of our purpose rather than profit, power and possessions we need to understand that we are nature, that we are part of ecosystems, that we’re not separate, that we have always depended upon relationships within our communities, that we have always been interdependent upon the life within the ecosystems that sustain us and that our overall health, wellbeing and ability to survive, adapt and thrive entails us reconnecting with ourselves, each other and the world around us. Above all this requires a shift in consciousness, a shift in mindset, towards more collective regenerative consciousness and the cultivation of our THRIVEminds.
This requires us to learn from and model what thrives best, which is nature, those living most harmoniously with nature and the communities, organisations and business models which are most regenerative, exhibit most resilience and adaptability when weathering the various traumatic shocks the VUCA storms can bring. This requires a regenerative holistic approach that cultivates the health, vitality and connection with our inner world as well as our outer worlds, our personal & spiritual health, our social & organizational health as well as the ecosystemic health of the planet we’re all part of and depend upon.
Healing our personal and collective trauma, transforming ourselves and our societies to become more regenerative, life-giving, healthy, happy, abundant and whole entails adopting the logic, principles and values of life and living-systems which are key to our survival and ability to thrive beyond crises. At the core of living-systems logic is relationships, cooperation and an appreciation of the interconnected nature of all life. To heal our collective trauma and transcend the present degenerative paradigm we need to heal those relationships, reconnect with ourselves, each other and the wider world we are all a part of.
The process of collective post-traumatic growth offers the promise of hope as we emerge from the chronic stress, anxiety, disconnection and trauma with a renewed strength, appreciation of life, value of relationships, spiritual transformation and optimism for new possibilities. On a practical level this process can be encouraged, nourished and cultivated by identifying the key practises, processes, modalities, models, ways of being and doing that help to empower the personal and collective healing, connection and transformation required in our lives, organisations and societies so that we can truly thrive beyond crises. Alongside holistic health practises used to heal from trauma the interdisciplinary fields of regenerative leadership, regenerative design, regenerative culture, regenerative business, regenerative consciousness, regenerative spirituality, regenerative governance, etc, have emerged to provide many of the tools we require to create a radically more regenerative future.
The problems we face can’t be solved at the same level of thinking that created them. For humanity to transition away from the degenerative paradigm we find ourselves living in towards the more regenerative paradigm we need being born, we would be wise to midwife the cultivation of our regenerative consciousness, our critical, compassionate, connected and creative minds that integrate our gut, heart, head and ability to co-regulate, together, which I call our Thrivemind.
Alongside various healing & empowerment modalities including probiotic nutrition, breathwork, mindfulness, ecotherapy and collective consciousness raising I am proud and excited to have developed regenerative hypnotherapy to add to our paradigm shifting toolkit to help cultivate humanities Thrivemind so that we can heal, transform & thrive.
The changes we need to make across society are needed urgently as it’s been estimated that we have less than a decade to radically change and regenerative our communities and ecosystems before we face total collapse and potential extinction. Never before has it been more important that we commit to our collective healing, to leading our very best lives, enjoying fulfilling our potential, with love, compassion and a unprecedented sense of purpose that inspires us all to rise to the most important calling any of us could ever consider, that of our continued survival as a species, which requires we thrive fully together.
As overlapping crises throw fuel on to an already metaphorically burning world, phoenix’s are being born to rise from it’s ashes. The pace of crisis accelerates at a similar rate of the regenerative movements emerging to avert us from extinction. There has never been a more important time in human history for us to be prioritising the fulfilment of our evolutionary purpose, our mass collective healing and fulfilment of our highest potentialities as interconnected beings that depend upon and are part of nature. The collective experience of health, joy, happiness and fulfilment to be found in rising to the most urgent and important challenge we could ever be called towards is all of ours to relished and shared. Now is the time, our final hour for humanities finest act of collective post-traumatic growth, healing and regeneration so that we can survive and thrive beyond these crises together! It’s now or never.
